Hoffman Estates is 22.1 square miles, with a population of 51,895. The ethnic mix is diverse, with 22.7% Asian, 14.1% Hispanic or Latino, and 4.8% African American. It is the North American or Midwest headquarters to such corporate giants as Sears Holdings, AT&T, GE Capital Services, Siemens Medical Systems, Claire's Accessories, Automatic Data Processing, DMG/Morei Seiki, Tate & Lyle and recently Sensient Technologies. A major regional hospital, St. Alexius Medical Center, is located in the community and has recently added a Pediatric and Women’s Center. Situated in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, the Village has an ample, well-educated labor supply.
Poplar Creek at 59/90 has emerged as a premier entertainment district, offering more shopping and dining options to residents and regional consumers. The 59/90 District, located just west of IL-59 (Sutton Road) and north of I-90, includes the Sears Centre Arena, Cabela's (outfitter store), Stone Eagle Tavern and Saddle Room Restaurant/OTB as well as other restaurants and retail entertainment.

Located 25 miles northwest of Downtown Chicago and 12 miles from O'Hare International Airport, Hoffman Estates is accessible to the entire Chicagoland region. The Village is a suburb of Chicago, and is a part of the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Hoffman Estates enjoys access to major regional roadways, including the Jane Addams Tollway (I-90), as well as state routes 58 (Golf Road), 59 (Sutton Road), 62 (Algonquin Road), 68 (Roselle Road), and 72 (Higgins Road). The Sears Centre Arena is an 11,000 seat entertainment venue offering concerts, sporting events, and family entertainment. Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear opened in 2007 in the Poplar Creek at 59/90 Entertainment District. This 185,000-square-foot showroom is an educational and entertainment attraction featuring a décor of museum quality animal displays, huge aquariums, and trophy animals interacting in realistic recreation of their natural habitats.
Shopping centers throughout the Village, including grocery and major retailers. Relatively new shopping centers on Route 59 are Poplar Creek Crossing (anchored by Target) and Prairie Stone Crossing (anchored by Sports Authority). These centers offer a variety of dining options. Two major and recently remodeled centers are located along Roselle Road, where shoppers can find groceries, furniture, clothing, specialty items and dining options.
Three 18-hole golf courses are located in the Village. Also present are miniature golf courses, bowling, game rooms, and other places to have fun.
