Free amplified phones available
Schaumburg Township Selection Center for ITAC Free Amplified Phone Program
Do you have trouble hearing on the telephone? The Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation (ITAC) offers free amplified phones to qualified Illinois residents with a certified hearing loss. Schaumburg Township Disability Services is a selection center where you can do a "live" test on each of the four phones and select which one they hear best with. All four amplified phones have varying levels of amplification and adjustments for tone and clarity.
There are no age or income requirements. Residents just need regular landline telephone service, a picture ID, a copy of their phone bill and a doctor or licensed audiologist's signature on the application. Call Schaumburg Township at 847-884-0030 for an application. For more information, visit ITAC's Web site at www.itactty.org, or contact ITAC at 800-841-6167. This is a free program required and governed by Illinois law.
