The Department’s Traffic Operations unit provides for maintenance of 2,388 Village owned street lights and parking lot lights, posting of traffic control signage, asphalt patching and minor repairs of Village roadways that facilitate the safe and efficient flow of traffic on Village streets. 10,965 regulatory signs are posted and maintained in accordance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This includes street name signs, stop signs, speed limit signs, warning signs, school speed limit zone signs, no parking signs and other traffic control information.

You may contact the Public Works Department or the responsible agency directly in accordance with the following roads: Bartlett Road, Bode Road, Bradwell Road, Central Road, Ela Road, Mundhank Road, Freeman Road (between Mundhank & Algonquin), Plum Grove Road, Schaumburg Road, Shoe Factory Road and Old Sutton Road, which are all maintained by the Cook County Highway Department; to report problems call 847-397-4145. Algonquin Road (Route 62), Barrington Road, Golf Road (Route 58), Higgins Road (Route 72) and New Sutton Road (Route 59) are maintained by the Illinois Department of Transportation; to report problems call 847-705-4222.
The Pavement Maintenance unit provides for the maintenance of approximately 158 center lane miles of Village asphalt pavement and roadway markings. This program addresses small-scale asphalt repairs resulting from utility dig-ups and pavement failures, road reconstruction driveway repairs and inlet rehabilitation. This unit provides inspections of the Contracted Crack Sealing Program and oversees the re-striping of roadway markings within the Village.
