Safe From the Start (SFS) is a multi-year demonstration project to develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive and coordinated community-based models to identify, assess and respond to children, ages 0-5, who have been exposed to violence in their home and/or community, as well as their caregivers. The project period is January 1, 2001 through July 31, 2004, beginning with six months of strategic planning following by three years of implementation and evaluation.
