Police: Community Resource Center

Community Resource Center's Beginnings
The Hoffman Estates Police Department has created its first Community Resource Center (CRC). It is located at the Salem Hill/Interlude Apartment, 700 Salem Drive, Apt. 120. The CRC will address quality of life issues for Salem Hill/Interlude apartment residents. It is open from approximately 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and provides services such as immunizations, parenting classes, English as a second language (ESL) classes, "Promise to Play" (children education), and other social services.

Oct. 21, 2000, marked the grand opening of the CRC. The center is for the residents of Salem Hill/Interlude apartments only, providing educational, health and wellness programs, and recreational opportunities. The CRC has a number of activities, including English as a second language (ESL) classes for adults, family literacy programs where residents are picked up by bus from the center and taken to the Schaumburg library, parenting workshops, immunizations, and preschool play groups.

New Community Resource Center open house !

crc 3 2010A second, brand-new Community Resource Center (CRC), located in the new Police station building, 411 W. Higgins Road, held an open house in December. The dedicated space features creative areas, toys, books and learning opportunities for neighborhood children. The CRC is sponsored by the Village of Hoffman Estates in partnership with Community Consolidated School District 54, which also provided most of the furnishings and educational materials. This new facility will also allow District 54 in cooperation with the Village to expand their adult learning and ESL classes by utilizing the Police Departments new training room which is adjacent to the CRC. The Village's Health and Human Services Department provides additional youth programming. The Village's other CRC location, which is also administered in cooperation with School District 54, is located in the Salem Hill/Interlude Apartment, 700 Salem Drive, Apt. 120. If you have any questions about the CRCs, call Officer Joe Kruschel at 847-882-1818. crc 4 2010
